Perth’s premier family law firm O’Sullivan Davies Lawyers has named Nicola Watts as a new partner.
Ms Watts, who has been practising family law for over 25 years in Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia, joined O’Sullivan Davies in July 2018.
“Before I moved to Perth six and half years ago, the only family law firm I had ever heard of in Perth was O’Sullivan Davies, the firm’s outstanding reputation reaches far beyond the State border,” Ms Watts said.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to join the partnership. The firm is held in the highest regard by the industry, by our legal peers and by our clients. I’m very proud to have a seat at the table and to join the ranks of current and former esteemed partners”.
“As a family lawyer, we’re often dealing with highly emotional clients and at times, difficult situations, however, it is immensely satisfying to help families navigate their way through those times”.
“I look forward to drawing on my expertise to not only assist clients of the firm, but also help mentor young family lawyers and continue to contribute meaningfully to the industry.”
Ms Watts is Western Australia’s only representative on the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia (FLS) and in that role is a representative on WA’s Family Law Practitioners Association (FLPA) committee and on the Board of the Australian Institute of Family Law Mediators and Arbitrators (AIFLAM). She also sits on the Ethics Committee of the Law Society of Western Australia and on the Legal Aid Review Board.
Further, Ms Watts is the Chair of the Organising Committee for the Family Law Section’s biannual conference that will take place in Perth in October 2022. The 20th National Conference will attract up to 900 family lawyers to Perth.
O’Sullivan Davies Lawyers was listed as a First Tier Firm in the 2019 Doyle’s Guide for Western Australian Family Law rankings for the seventh consecutive year and last month senior partner Andrew Davies was named as Western Australia’s highest ranked lawyer in the Guide.
